Board Meetings
Board meetings are held monthly at various locations, usually during lunch, and occasionally through Zoom. All members are invited to attend Board meetings. Date, time, and location will be posted in the Membership Area under the Members Only Calendar of Events (the location is typically TBD until closer to the meeting), or you can reach out to the President for location details at [email protected].

Join us for a half-day class on the "Nuts and Bolts of Design-Build." This class will be taught by Robynne Thaxton, from Progressive Design-Build Consulting, LLC.

Description:
Design-build delivery has become one of the most prominent delivery methods in the United States. This course will start with the basics of the design-build delivery method, including risk allocation and best practices. The course will also discuss the various types of design-build delivery such as progressive design-build, design competition, and bridging, as well as the benefits and detriments of each. Finally, the course will review design-build best practices and common pitfalls for those new to the delivery method.
Biography:

Robynne Thaxton (formerly Parkinson), JD, FDBIA is the founding member of both Thaxton Parkinson PLLC and Progressive Design-Build Consulting, LLC. Robynne is a member of the Washington State Capital Projects Advisory Review Board and served on the Design-Build Institute of America’s National Board for seven years. She is also a member of the inaugural class of Fellows at the Design-Build Institute of America. Robynne’s practice consists of assisting owners as an attorney and consultant in developing their procurement and contract documents for design-build projects. She has developed a particular expertise with progressive design-build projects, having participated in more than 27 PDB projects valued at over $5 billion. Her clients include the Washington State Department of Enterprise Services; the Washington State Department of Transportation; the cities of Seattle, Tacoma, Spokane, Portland, and Richland; Los Angeles County; the University of California at San Diego; Western Washington University; and Bonneville Power Administration. She is a frequent instructor for the Design-Build Institute of America and has taught classes for organizations such as the AGC, AIA, ABA, ACEC, and AAA. Prior to starting her own firm in 2008, she was an associate attorney at Perkins Coie and a partner at Groff Murphy. Robynne graduated from the University of Colorado School of Law in 1989.
